Anna took a breath. “He says he picked up the napkin after she took the ring off it. He saw what she did with it.”
Vanessa gave a short laugh. “Convenient.”
Luca rose from his chair. “Where is it, Anna?”
Anna looked at Vanessa’s left wrist — at the white satin glove she had never taken off.
“Inside the cuff of her glove.”
Vanessa’s hand closed over it. Luca held out his palm.
“Take off the glove, Vanessa.”
Her diamond-clad right hand gripped the edge of the white satin and pulled. The glove slid away, and a heavy platinum ring with a massive emerald-cut diamond clattered onto the hardwood floor.
“He planted it,” Vanessa whispered.
